A mature tall 'Flame of the forest' right in the middle of the school. I think it has great significance as it is representative of the school crest (on the badge). We did a lot of things and spent a lot of time under the huge canopy which provided good shade. We assemble there daily, we played hopscotch, chapteh, catching, five stones before assembly, during recess and after school. We read, studied and did our school work under the tree. I was a great sight during the flowering season. The tree will bloom in red and the ground was covered with petals like a read carpet, especially after a stormy night. I am sad to hear that this tree is no longer standing. The school compound is now occupied by Haig Girls' Primary School.
I will always remember the great time we had under the majestic tree.
