Townsville Primary School : carefree times

Recollection
Going to an air-conditioned room for any period was considered a really huge luxury - those rooms used to be very limited in those days (small music room, AVA room or library with fairly limited facilities as compared to the past). Students always vied to help their teacher carry their belongings into the staff room for air-con, and also because it seemed that these students were more liked/favourite by the teacher. Recess meant a long queue for fried food and soft drinks, going to the school bookshop to check out the latest games / playthings available. We plated zero point (made our own ropes from rubberbands), erasers (with country flags) and later, card games like 'Happy Family' and 'Old Maid', while seated freely on concrete floors around school whether or not we were in skirts or shorts. Those were happy, carefree times! :)
