In the 1970s, it was the school's tradition that each class took turns to present a concert or play during school assemblies. We voted our classmates for their roles as actors, directors, scriptwriters, costume designers and PA crew. I remember we performed an excerpt from the never 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens. One of my classmates sew a Victorian costume for me (acting as Estella); and Miss Harisham's wedding gown was created by another classmate out of crepe papers! Our form teacher was our productions manager, of course. The class had lots of fun and creative juice flowing around... It was a good time of bonding amongst our classmates and also with our form teacher. Some of the friendships forged then have lasted to this day. Even though we now walk along different and diverse paths in careers, when we have a get-together, we would never fail to relish our old time performing and producing the dramas at Tanjong Katong Girls' School.
