I visited the ‘Sentosa Flowers’ on the fourth day of Chinese New Year, 26 January 2012. The theme for this year’s flower show is ‘Enchanted Spring’.
As I was there early, it was not very hot and the flowers were still vibrant. By 11.00am, when the heat became more intense, the flowers drooped with dismay with the weather. It was sad to see flowers withering away like this.
As this is the year of the dragon according to the Chinese zodiac, there were many types of flowered Chinese dragons on display. Most dragons were having golden heads and tails, and brightly dressed in yellow or red flowers. Perhaps it is because Chinese dragons are believed to be strongly associated with Emperors since dragons are considered as the highest ranking animals in the Chinese animal kingdom.
In addition to the delightful scents from the flowers, I was amazed to hear the joyful music and melody of spring songs coming out from musical notes and instruments figures, also made from flowers. It was a really a beautiful sight. I like this part of the ‘Sentosa Flowers’ best.
I will return to visit the 'Sentosa Flowers' again this coming Chinese New Year, this time to see the flower displays of snakes, hopefully.
