Kallang stadium

Recollection
1977 was the year I went to Malaysia Cup. No one cannot rforget how the stadium shake. The Kallang roar was an united voice of a nation. When the referee was not up to mark, we would shout vulgarity in unison. It was one nation and one voice. Unfortunately, it was all the semi final with selangor that the ticketing process ended with 1 dead and several injured. I got my ticket though. Football reached fever pitch. It was the year of Uncle Choo. It was Kim Song, Dollah, Mat Noh, same Eric Plaine. It was 50,000 fans. It was live telecast. It was the year Malaysia Cup was won and crossed the causeway. The same year was pre world cup qualifying. Songapore played big boys and almost went to next stage. The stadium was so special. I played ping pong ball there. Used the gym. Watched Donny and Marie and Boney M with my first date. I accepted Jesus there n the Billy Graham Rally. My school sport day, National Band competition, Sea game opening, youth day and many others. The Malaysia Cup was most special. It bonded the nation but most importantly, it bonded my uncle and I. It bonded my dad and I. It was a shared journey with my nanny who sold drinks there. Obviously someone has destroyed it since. The stadium was a story of a young nation. It was also personal journey of Singapore family. It is sad to see it gone.
