[Question: Using this map could you kind of try to recollect what this estate was like in the early seventies?]
There was one main road road coming out from Bukit Timah -- Chestnut Drive -- that was the trunk Road that led to Chestnut Crescent and Chestnut Avenue. At the junction of Chestnut Avenue and Chestnut Crescent was a phone booth; I remember that phone booth because my father refused to have a phone at home so to make a call, we had to run down to the booth with a 10 cent coin and hope that the phone was working. My eldest brother had a very bad bicycle accident at that junction and at number 77 Chestnut Drive was an old English lady that came out running from and pick him up and nursed him until my dad found out where my eldest brother was.
