Memory#5: An Australian air force tenant produced blue films here under the name “Greenhill studios”
But every month, I would walk in to collect my rent. From the road, I would get off the bus, walk to this house (#61). I had no car, you can’t drive, so I walked in here. I met the fellow who was living here; I remember his name was L. A. Coon. Whenever I gave him a receipt; I would write L. A. Coon. For about 3 or 4 months, he misled me – he took the receipt, went to the War Department, collected the rent and he played me out. So I wrote to the War Department and there was a civil case and he was thrown out. And the story also goes, he was an active cameraman, they say his was also in the pictures. They said he took blue films; his wife was the woman. I think he called it the Greenhill studios. And some of my friends paid $5 to come to see these movies. Yes, these movies were made in this house! L. A Coon was a corporal in the Australian Air Force.
