Games in the 1980s

Recollection
Can you imagine a world without laptops, computer games, Internet, mobiles phones and other electronics we use for entertainment today? Well, my Father sure can! But what do they do to keep themselves entertained? This was my question to Father. "I use to play "goli"(Marbles), Kuti Kuti, fighting spiders, and hopscotch. "Goli" had to be played with at least 6 people and it was played outdoors. Kuti Kuti and Fighting spiders were played indoors and Kuti Kuti was usually played when it rained," he recounted fondly. The game played most was "goli" as it was played with at least 6 people and it was played with his friends after school. My Father's favourite game was "Fighting spiders". The spiders were kept in matchboxes and they had to catch houseflies to feed the spiders. The "Arena" was the breadth of the matchboxes joined together. It was his favourite game as if he lost, it was the spider that was incompetent, not him. I wonder if he lost the other games a lot...(don't tell him I said that)
