Halimah, our Malay washer lady

Recollection
Transcript of 9 July 2018 interview with Pauline Tan (resident of #79 Chestnut Drive from 1971 to late 90s) recorded by Chan Kim Yin: She was from the kampong off/beyond Chestnut Avenue -- her name was Halimah. She came every morning to wash and iron our clothes. She was with us for many years -- a lovely lady. Every Hari Raya, she would come with her husband on a scooter to give us her delicious beef rendang and tomato chicken -- which my son loved . Knowing how much the boy loved her chicken dish she would always give us a big portion. Till today, my son has never forgotten her delicious dish and sometimes he would ask.... " Are we having Halimah's tomato chicken?”
