Birds nest drink

During the annual Chinese Seventh Month wayang shows in my kampong, we kids loved the noise and food and carnival-like atmosphere. Besides the ice-cream seller and his tikam tikam game, my favourite stall was the birds nest drink. Even up to this day, I cannot resist ordering a can of this drink occasionally when I lunch out at the hawker centres or kopitams. This photo is from the National Archives’ Picas website.
