Anandha Traditional Arts and Music Ltd (ATAM) was established on 15 November 2023 as a non-profit arts organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional arts and music from diverse regional cultures. It provides platforms for showcasing various traditional art forms and archiving them. It also facilitates artists in gaining market access and safeguarding the intellectual property of traditional artists. ATAM was founded by Japhire Gopi Kannan G, inspired by the contributions made to the community by his father, Cpt (Rtd) M Govindaraju and his late brother, Anandha Kannan, both of whom were prominent in the Tamil social and entertainment fields.
A key ATAM initiative is the Nam Marabu Series conducted in collaboration with the Indian Heritage Centre. It brings together renowned masters in the Parai, Karagam, and Kolaattam art forms for in-depth engagement and knowledge transfer to students, teachers, and individual artists. Another flagship programme is the Indian Heritage Arts Fiesta 2024 - Drum and Dance with Harmony, held on 13 July 2024. This event featured over 1,000 participants, setting two new Singapore Book of Records entries: the Largest Mass Kolaattam Dance and the Largest Medley of Indian Traditional Percussion.
Anandha Kondaattam - The Singapore Indian Traditional Folk Arts Festival took place on 30 and 31 August 2024. Organised in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay as part of Esplanade's Raga series, the festival brought together a variety of folk art forms from the Indian diaspora as well as other ethnic communities, including Chinese and Malay arts. The event featured 210 local artists, 22 international artists, and 21 arts organisations. Through these initiatives, ATAM aims to create greater awareness and sustainability of traditional Tamil and Indian heritage arts in Singapore.
In September 2024, ATAM announced the formation of an advisory board chaired by T Raja Segar, editor of Tamil Murasu, and the appointment of Subbu Adaikalavan as CEO of ATAM.
