Discover new ways to work and live better at THRIVE@libraries

National Library Board collaborates with SkillsFuture SG to support working adults in their personal and professional growth

Learn how to live well and work better through career workshops, expert talks, a personality quiz to identify your personal learning journey, and more at THRIVE@libraries. Launched by the National Library Board (NLB) in partnership with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), as part of the SkillsFuture Festival 2024, the event will take place from today at Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ) Plaza and Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) from 18 to 20 July 2024.

Live Well, Work Better
Themed “Live Well, Work Better”, THRIVE@libraries 2024 features four zones where visitors, at all stages of their work life, can learn more from industry experts, thought leaders, Institutes of Higher Learning, as well as resources from NLB’s collections. The zones are:

1. The Playground: Visitors can discover more about themselves and explore new recreational interests here;
2. The Fitness Station: Buff up through Continuing Education and Training (CET) or CET-related offerings here, where industry advisers will be at hand to offer expert tips for professional growth;
3. The Living Room: Interactive talks and activities held in a cosy setting for visitors to discover ways to grow in their career and personal wellness; and
4. Programmes at LLI for public and corporates: Engage with industry experts and an international author, including The Woke Salaryman, Samsung, HeadSTart by The Straits Times, and Bill Burnett, the co-author of bestselling book Designing Your Life. Corporate employees can also look forward to panel discussions featuring LinkedIn and Great Place To Work® ASEAN & ANZ.

For the full list of our partners and programmes, please refer to Annex A.

Discover Your Work Persona (and Work Besties!)
NLB has developed a fun personality quiz that will offer participants insights into their work habits and learning preferences. Upon completion of the quiz, participants will find out their work persona embodied by local animals such as the Asian otter, oriental-pied hornbill, hawksbill turtle, macaque, Singapura cat and pangolin. They can also find out who their work besties are based on this fun quiz! Importantly, they will get a personalised itinerary to explore programmes and resources at THRIVE@libraries. For an example of a corporate persona and suggested itinerary, please refer to Annex B.

Learning Together in the Community
NLB has established the Library of Communities (LoC), an online directory of learning communities in areas such as Careers, Wellness, Digital and Sustainability. This will help Singaporeans to easily find like-minded groups of people to learn together. Existing communities and interest groups can also be listed in the directory for greater discoverability. For more details, including how to be added to the directory, visit the Library of Communities interactive panel at THRIVE@libraries or go.gov.sg/nlb-library-of-communities.

Learning Any Time With NLB
Beyond the event, Singaporeans can continue to tap on NLB’s rich resources, such as LinkedIn Learning modules, to learn at their own pace. In addition, NLB patrons can look forward to more programmes following a recently inked Memorandum of Understanding between NLB and the Institute for Adult Learning, and a collaboration with the Designing Your Life Institute. When ready, more details about the programmes will be provided through NLB’s channels, including its website at www.nlb.gov.sg.

NLB’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ng Cher Pong, said: “THRIVE@libraries 2024 is NLB’s commitment towards building a culture of lifelong learning in Singapore by growing the Learning Marketplace. With partners like SkillsFuture Singapore and others in the community, we hope to show that there are many ways Singaporeans can learn, and in turn, thrive in their personal and professional lives.”
