Tampines Regional Library was first opened on 3 December 1994 by Dr Aline Wong, then-Senior Minister of State for Education and Health. It was temporarily closed at its premises at Tampines Ave 7 on 4 June 2017, with 3 June 2017 being its last day of operations before the relocation.
The library was officially re-opened on 5th August 2017 by Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Communications and Information. The new library is among a suite of community services provided at Our Tampines Hub and continues to serve the Tampines community. Situated close to the Tampines MRT station and bus interchange, the library covers a floor area of 12,600 square metres.
The Children’s Chinese collection at Tampines Regional Library is made possible by the generous contribution of the Chou Sing Chu Foundation.
