Feeling drained? Stressed? Anxious? You need a digital wellness check ASAP! Learn how to evaluate and enhance your own digital well-being in this hands-on workshop with experts from the National University of Singapore.
In today's era of technological advancement, digital devices and technologies are a ubiquitous and inseparable part of our everyday lives — we use them to communicate; to shop and transact; to work and do business; to track our health and fitness; to keep up to date with current affairs and to engage in social media activism. Yet, now that technologies permit us to be “permanently online and permanently connected”, we are confronted with a new challenge: How do we achieve a healthy balance between connectivity and disconnectivity? Or, in other words: How can we attain digital wellbeing?
Join us in this workshop where we will discuss the importance of digital wellbeing and share about the Living Well Digitally project and Digital Wellbeing Indicator Framework (DWIF), a novel instrument developed by researchers from the National University of Singapore’s Centre from Trusted Internet and Community (NUS-CTIC). About the Speakers
Natalie Pang is Associate Professor and Deputy Head at the Communications and New Media Department (CNM), Principal Investigator at the Centre for Trusted Internet and Community, and University Librarian at NUS Libraries, at the National University of Singapore (NUS). She is a researcher and educator in digital citizenship and well-being, and digital humanities. She works on translation research with government and intergovernmental agencies, tech companies and non-profits, and internationally, serves as a member of the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab, expert in the Pacific Forum Women Experts Directory, and Global Fellow at Missions Publiques.
Audrey Yue is Professor and Head of the Department of Communications and New Media, and Deputy Director of the NUS Centre for Trusted Internet and Community at the National University of Singapore. She is a humanities and social sciences scholar specialising in media cultural studies and policy. For the past two decades, she has conducted collaborative research with government and non-profit arts, culture and social services agencies in Singapore, Australia and South Korea to develop evaluation indicators for inclusive citizen participation.
Zhang Renwen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and New Media at National University of Singapore. Her research focuses on the health and social implications of digital technologies, with a particular focus on well-being and social connectedness. Dr. Zhang has worked closely with clinical scientists, computer scientists, and designers on various projects, and by integrating qualitative and quantitative methods, she seeks to uncover insights that can inform the design of socio-technical systems for more empowering and beneficial human-computer interactions.
