The Singapore Botanic Gardens’ Library of Botany and Horticulture was founded in 1875 and is one of the oldest specialised libraries in Southeast Asia. The Library has two sections: the Public Reference Library (unrestricted access & open to public) and the Staff Library which includes the Rare Books Room and Archives (restricted access).
The Library’s collection is an invaluable resource which supports the work of the Gardens staff, students, and researchers across the globe in a diverse range of science and horticulture disciplines. The collection contains books, periodicals, field books, botanical artworks, historical maps of the gardens and various print and digital media. Wireless@SG Wi-Fi service is available at the library.
The Public Reference Library is open to the general public. The collections are only for reference and not for loan but a photocopying facility is available. Visitors may also view the collection via the NLB Catalogue and OneSearch.
