About the Programme
This creative programme invites participants to engage in meditative stitch workshops on fabric squares. Each square, crafted from repurposed garments, embodies a tangible memory from the participant’s past, honoring personal and shared histories. Through meditative stitching, the act of joining the fabrics together nurtures present self- awareness and well-being, encouraging participants to slow down, much needed in an increasingly fast-paced world. During this reflective workshop, participants will also embroider words of hope and intention, expressing their aspirations for the future.
Important Notes:
1. Please bring along an old item of clothing (light-weight fabric) to the workshop. T-shirt and knit materials are NOT suitable for the workshop.
2. There are 3 workshops taking place at various libraries. The activity at each workshop is the same, so you only need to sign up for one session.
3. All workshop participants are highly encouraged to sign up for Agy’s Zoom talk on "Slowing down with Stitch Meditation: A Personal Journey" on Mon 19 Jan, 2pm – 3.30pm.
4. Latecomers may be denied entry to this workshop. Your slot may be given to others if you are more than 10 minutes late.
About the Instructor
Agy Lee is a textile artist who creates textile collages and 3D textures through free motion machine embroidery, handstitching and marking that are not only vibrant and dynamic, but captivate the viewer. As an environmental advocate, her work explores slowing down and making visible the things that are usually 'hidden' from the public's eye. Her first solo, “Hues of Loss” (2023), focused on the beauty and fragility of coral reefs, and her most recent works on embroidered moss forms were showcased and spotlighted at Affordable Art Fair Singapore 2025.
