A digital portal on prominent Malays who have significantly contributed to Singapore’s development and the Malay community

Prominent Malays of Singapore (PMoS) is an online portal comprising content and resources on prominent Malays who have contributed to Singapore in the last 60 years. The project is a collaboration between NLB and the NUS Department of Malay Studies and is supported by key partners such as the Malay Language Council Singapore and Berita Harian.

The content in PMoS provides essential facts about prominent Malays in bite-sized articles, highlighting their contributions to Singapore’s development. There will be continuous documentation to improve accessibility of historical knowledge for the public, especially for the younger generation.

As part of the launch, there will be a roving exhibition of the highlights of the portal at selected libraries to bring these stories closer to Singaporeans. The roving exhibition will travel to these libraries over the next 18 months, from mid-October 2025 to March 2027, as follows:

  • Bedok Library (12 October 2025 to 11 January 2026)
  • Woodlands Library (12 January 2026 - 31 March 2026)
  • Tampines Library (1 April 2026 – 30 May 2026)
  • Jurong Library (1 June 2026 – 31 August 2026)
  • National Library, Level 9 Promenade (1 September 2026 – 31 October 2026)
