Our History
The Sengkang Public Library was officially opened on 30 November 2002 by Rear-Admiral (NS) Teo Chee Hean, then-Senior Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, and Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris GRC. It was opened to serve residents of two new housing estates, Sengkang and Punggol. The library was closed from 18 October 2015 for major upgrading and re-opened its doors to the public on 18 March 2017. Then-Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, officiated the reopening ceremony.
