Our History

Ang Mo Kio Public Library was officially opened on 17 August 1985 by Mr Yeo Toon Chai, Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio Constituency. A prominent, stand-alone landmark in the centre of Ang Mo Kio since 1985, we closed in March 2002 for upgrading and reopened on 26 January 2003.

Interesting Facts

  • We are within walking distance from many food outlets, cinema, and heartland shopping at Ang Mo Kio Hub.
  • The name Ang Mo Kio - might have been inspired by the Hokkien term for tomatoes. Our meeting room on Level 2 is thus officially named “Tomato Room”.

What We Offer

  • Two reading clubs that attract members from all over the island – Taxi Sifu & Friends and Vaasagar Vattam.
  • A quiet and tranquillity from the lush greenery around.
