I remembered that Singapore River was full of dirt, trash and smelly when it used to have the tugboats along the Boat Quay & Clarke Quay area. It took more than 3 decades to clean up the river. Today the river is clean of tugboats, replaced by river cruise with sight seeing for tourists. I do hope that the river can be even cleaner so that the bottom of the river bed can be seen.
