Chemical Changes and Reactions Playlist
A chemical reaction occurs when reactants mix together and create something new, known as a product. Some signs that a reaction has occurred include temperature changes, colour changes, new smells, and the production of bubbles or gas.
Chemical changes result from chemical reactions. And we don’t need to be in labs to observe these changes – they can happen when we cook an egg, bake cookies, watch fireworks, or light a campfire.
Teaching this concept may seem challenging, but the video resources provided below are excellent for you and your child to learn together!
Good Thinking | Chemical Reactions in Action!
This animated video has a Science teacher explain everyday chemical reactions in action. She gives examples to her class, which includes her rusty bike and also explores the concepts behind atoms, molecules, and other chemical reactions.
This video also includes advice on how to explain tough Science concepts to children, which is great for parents or teachers.
Chemical Reactions | Facts for Kids
Learn about chemical reactions from host, Leticia. Since she is a child herself, she is able to appeal to other children when she explains such concepts. This video explains what a chemical reaction is, where it occurs (like when baking a cake) and the differences between a chemical and a physical reaction.
Chemical Changes |Crash Course Kids #19.2
This video explains that chemical changes occur even in the food we eat. The host explains that a great way to learn about Science is through baking. She talks about the similarities between the two and what chemical changes are.
How do Fireworks Work? - Science for Kids | Educational Videos by Mocomi
The animated video explains how firecrackers, sparklers and rockets work and what goes into them.
Inflating a Balloon using Chemistry |STEM Education Activity
The host gives a step-by-step guide on how to inflate a balloon, using a basic chemical reaction, which occurs by mixing baking soda and vinegar.
