Water Striders (also known as Pond Skaters) are small insects that can stand on water. They have long, thin legs, with tiny hairs on them that help to repel water. All these give them their ability to “stride” or “skate” across the water and allows the water’s surface tension to support their weight.

Follow the video below or try out these instructions to make your own paper water strider. How long can yours stand on the water? Can you think of ways to make your water strider stay afloat for longer?
