Ho Yong Min (The Urbanist)

 

Ho Yong Min

 

Ho Yong Min is an urban design and heritage educator. Better known as The Urbanist, Yong Min uses extensive collections at the National Library and National Archives to inform his discoveries, which he shares via TikTok and Instagram (@urbanist.singapore), and during his immersive and engaging heritage walks and activities for the public. Lim Yee Hung reconnected with his Singapore roots after more than a decade away. Inspired by all the stories lying dormant at the National Archives of Singapore, Yee Hung put together the self-guided outdoor game, Hidden.sg, bringing the island's heritage to life. Hafizzul Hashim

 

Hafizzul Hashim is the chef-owner of the award-winning restaurant Fiz. Hafizzul's creative takes on regional cuisine is informed by his childhood memories of fishing and camping with his dad and cooking with his nenek, and inspired by the collection of old recipes and menus at the National Library and National Archives. Yip Yew Chong

 

Yip Yew Chong is a visual artist known for his sprawling outdoor murals of Singapore's past in areas like Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Tiong Bahru. His works, which resonate deeply with many Singaporeans, draw on his own memories of growing up in Singapore. To fill any gaps or to confirm details, Yew Chong often refers to the collections of the National Library and National Archives. Here's a peek into how he does this.

Yap Wei Qi

 

Yap Wei Qi is a fashion researcher, writer and curator. She is the co-editor, supervisor and researcher of the Singapore Fashion Histories, a website documenting the written and oral histories of fashion, and runs Fashion on Display, a Singapore-based independent fashion curation studio dedicated to exhibiting fashion and everyday dress. Wei Qi also lectures at the School of Fashion Studies at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Her research often brings her to the National Library and National Archives. Discover how she did this here.
