Fastback Collection
The Fastback Collection is a curated collection of NLB’s most popular titles, available at Punggol Library and Central Library, that you can borrow for a non-renewable 7-day loan period. Fastback items cannot be reserved and can only be borrowed at these two locations.
This trial service aims to encourage faster circulation of popular titles and enable much shorter waiting times for our patrons.
The Fastback Collection will be available as part of a trial for about six months at Punggol Library and the Central Library from 7 January – 30 June 2026.
How Can I Use This Service?
All NLB members can make use of the Fastback Collection which can be browsed and borrowed from at Punggol Library and the Central Library from 7 January – 30 June 2026. Visit either of these libraries and look for our separately shelved Fastback displays!
Fastback Collection items can be identified through the Fastback stickers on their front covers (see below).

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes the Fastback Collection different from other NLB collections?
The Fastback Collection has been specially curated to include some of NLB’s most popular titles – books that are highly in demand, and that often come with long reservation queues.
Since books in the Fastback Collection have a 7-day loan period and cannot be reserved or renewed, they are intended to remain in constant and rapid circulation, meaning that you will be able to borrow and read these titles with a much shorter wait!
2. What kinds of books are included in the Fastback Collection trial?
The trial Fastback Collection comprises both English Adult titles, both Fiction and Non-Fiction. Over 900 titles have been included in the Fastback Collection.
3. What are some examples of the book titles that are available from the Fastback Collection?
The best way to see what titles are currently available is to visit Punggol Library or the Central Library in person! Titles from the Fastback Collection are expected to turn over quickly, and they are not available to view in NLB’s online catalogue, in order to prevent disappointment from seeing items online that may no longer be available when you arrive.
Please see below for some examples of the book titles that are available. Do note that these are not exhaustive – many more titles are available at the two locations!
4. What happens if I can’t finish my book in 7 days?
As titles from the Fastback Collection cannot be renewed, the standard overdue fine ($0.15 per day) will apply to Fastback Collection items when these are returned after the due date.
5. How can I find out more about the Fastback Collection, or provide feedback on my experience?
Approach our librarians at Punggol Library and the Central Library if you have any questions about the Fastback Collection! You can also e-mail enquiry@nlb.gov.sg or submit your feedback online at https://go.gov.sg/nlb-form-feedback.
