Mini Molly
Molly Bus
We manage a fleet of three mobile library buses which are affectionately called Mollys. Donations from the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple have enabled us to custom-build and operate two Mini-Molly buses and one Big Molly bus, which were rolled out in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
The Molly buses bring an immersive library experience to childcare centres and kindergartens in HDB neighbourhoods, schools, special schools and old age homes. They serve young children from disadvantaged families, frail senior citizens, and those with disabilities or special needs, who may not be able to visit libraries on their own. During their almost daily visits to different venues, each mini-Molly bus offers 1,500 books, while the Big Molly offers 3,000 books for our users to choose, borrow and enjoy.
To enhance the library experience, the Molly buses are equipped with child-friendly borrowing and returning stations. The big Molly bus is fitted with a hydraulic lift for the convenience of wheelchair users. A range of activities like reading, singing, storytelling, craft-making, drama and fun educational programmes are organised to enhance the library experience.
