Abstract
Set in Vienna in the late 19th century, the unhappily married Crown Prince Rudolf of the Austro-Hungarian Empire falls in love with the young Baroness Marie Vetsera. The consternation this causes in his royal family leads them to later commit suicide together at a hunting lodge.
