Abstract
The documentary film tracks three Chinese adolescents of different ages, social backgrounds, and from different regions in China: a 12-year old primary school student from a remote mountainous region who drops out at 15 to find employment; a 19-year-old high school student retaking his National Exam for the second time; and a restless 17-year-old high school dropout who moves to Germany to pursue art school. Over the period of 2009 to 2015, the film follows the lives, worries, and ambitions of the three Chinese youths as they search for a way out towards an uncertain future.
