Abstract
Kassim, a young bachelor who has returned from his studies in England, falls in love with a florist, Rahimah. However, Kassim's father pressures him into an arranged marriage with the daughter of his benefactor. After decades apart, Kassim and Rahimah are eventually reunited, only to be thwarted by old age. Patah Hati was restored in 2015 using a sole surviving 16mm print loaned from Shaw Organisation. The print had decayed substantially, with a damaged soundtrack, incomplete sequences, and frames that were too scratched or eroded by mould to be salvaged. This results in an inherent crackling and hiss even in the restored film.
