Abstract
Malay music has been absorbing many flavours of Asian music heritage. One could easily trace the influence of Chinese, Indian, Persian, Arab and even European and contemporary Latin American elements in Malay music. Being strategically located between areas of great Asian civilizations and as the result of European colonization, present Malay music has rhythm which is reflective of its experiences.
