Abstract
Program done in a magazine format that attempts to bring the experience of art to an audience in a media-saturated society. Each episode covers 4 segments. Passage follows the path and development of artistes' struggles and achievements. Art or not challenges viewers to ponder over whether certain popular art forms may truly be known as art or not. State of the art considers events that have or are taking place in Singapore. Gallery features accomplished persons from various art forms commenting on the development of the art form in Singapore and around the world. Passage of this episode features Shaun Ng, one of a few musicians in Singapore who has made the Gamba his passion and cause. Next we look at the issue of public art with Melissa Kwee of Pontiac Land and Mok Chia Wei, Project Director, Singapore Turf Club. The art work project showcases art works by Singapore artists for visitors to appreciate, enjoy and also beautify the facilities at the Kranji Race Course. Art of paper folding or origami existed since the Chinese invented paper, but it gained popularity only in the 20th century. Ronald Koh, origami artist practises the pure form of origami where he works only with a single sheet of paper. In Gallery, we look at the history of film making in Singapore and what makes a movie a Singapore one and how far can a home grown movie go.
