Abstract
This book aims to present a comprehensive account of the history, major policies, and outstanding achievements of China's opening up to the outside world over the past four decades. Focusing on China's grand program of opening-up launched in 1978 and based on an in-depth analysis of a huge amount of firsthand data, the author summarizes the historical experience and practical implications of China's opening-up in six key areas: regional opening-up, international trade, utilization of foreign capital, overseas investment, financial opening-up, and participation in global governance. The author also proposes new strategies, tasks, and initiatives for promoting comprehensive opening-up in the new era. At the threshold of a new era, China will ride on the trends of globalization to open wider to the rest of the world.
