Abstract
The documentary follows the son and daughter of a Gurkha soldier who is about to retire after working for 27 years in Singapore. As the family packs for their return to Nepal, the son, Shuvod, negotiates his dual identity as a Nepalese who has grown up in Singapore. Returning to Nepal, he also faces the disjuncture of feeling like a foreigner in his own country. Stuck in Nepal, Shuvod struggles with his application for a permit to stay in Singapore, unable to be reunited with his wife.
