The integrated secondary school was formed in January 1960 with the amalgamation of Bukit Panjang Secondary School and Chua Chu Kang Government Chinese Middle School. Functioning at Jalan Teck Whye, it was declared open by Mr. Yong Nyuk Lin, Minister for Education, on 11 January 1960. The school was relocated to Chua Chu Kang Avenue 4 in 1993. It was granted autonomous status by Ministry of Education in 1994.
