This is a close-up of Mr. Chiam See Tong (詹时中), a lawyer and Member of Parliament for Potong Pasir Constituency. He made history by being the longest serving opposition Member of Parliament by winning six elections in Potong Pasir Constituency since December 1984. In the 2011 General Election, he contested in Bishan-Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency (GRC) together with other Singapore People's Party (SPP) candidates. They lost to the People's Action Party team led by Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng. As for the Potong Pasir Constituency, his wife, Mrs. Lina Chiam nee Loh Woon Lee (罗文丽) (b.1949), was defeated by PAP's candidate, Sitoh Yih Pin who won by 114 votes. She served as Vice-Chairman of Potong Pasir Town Council (2001-2011) and Singapore People's Party Central Executive Committee (2010-2011), and became Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (May 2011-to date). Mr. Chiam is the founder member of Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) in 1980. He left SDP to join Singapore People's Party (SPP) in 1996. Title devised by Library staff.
