This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Mr. Tan Keong Choon (陈共存), a prominent rubber magnate and Chairman of Chinese High School Management Committee (1970-1992). He was Managing Director of National Iron and Steel Mills Limited (1961) and Tropical Produce Company (Private) Limited; Vice-Chairman of Maris Stella High School Building Fund Committee (1965-1968); Vice-President (1969-1972, 1979-1982), President (1973-1976, 1983-1987) and later Honorary President of Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (to date); Member of Chung Hwa Girls' High School Management Committee (1971-1972) and Nanyang Junior College Management Committee (1980-1989); Chairman of Singapore Science Centre (1973-1978) and National Parks Board; and Vice-President of Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan (1977-1991). He was conferred the Public Service Star and Public Service Star (Bar) in 1978 and 1989 respectively. His uncle, Mr. Tan Kah Kee (陈嘉庚), was Chairman of Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan (1929-1949).
