This is a half-length portrait of Mr. Umar Abdul Hamid, People's Action Party Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC (Kebun Baru) from 1991 to 1997. He studied Mechanical Engineering in Singapore Polytechnic from 1977 to 1980. He was Lecturer and Manager of the Continuing Education Centre, Department of Industry Services at Singapore Polytechnic (1992-1994); and President (2002) and later Honorary President (2006) of the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Vice-Chairman of Singapore Business Federation (2004-2006); Member (Employers’ Group) (2002-2003) and later Alternate Member (Employers’ Group) (2004-2007) of the National Wages Council and the Singapore National Employers Federation (2004); Executive Director of Strike Engineering Limited (Mar 1997-2004); and Member of the Board of Advisors to MINDEF Registration Committee.
