The old headquarters of Registry of Vehicles was located at Middle Road between 1948 and February 1983. On 1 September 1995, ROV, Mass Rapid Transit Corporation, Roads and Transportation Division of Public Works Department, and Land Transport Division of Ministry of Communications merged to form Land Transport Authority, a statutory board under the Ministry of Transport.
