This is a half-length portrait of award-winning writer, editor and former lecturer Muhammad Ariff Ahmad (b. 6 December 1924, Singapore-), a.k.a. Mas, who is a prominent expert and activist of the Malay language and culture in Singapore. A founding member of the esteemed Malay literary club, Asas '50, he had won two prestigious Malay awards, the Tun Sri Lanang and the Pendita (scholar in English). He has also been honoured on the national and regional levels, receiving the Singapore-based Cultural Medallion and the Public Service Star awards, and the Southeast Asian Write award. He is currently a free-lance writer and special columnist of Malay-language newspaper Berita Harian. Title devised by Library staff.
