This is the façade of Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 7¾ milestones Upper Serangoon Road. The Catholic church was founded in 1852 by Father Ambrose Maistre. The church building was built for the Teochew community by Father Jean Casimir Saleilles, the first Parish Priest in 1901. It was designed by Father Charles Benedict Nain in Gothic architecture style and has a distinctive three-storey entrance tower topped with a tall spire. It was blessed by Bishop Rene Michel-Marie Fee on 8 December 1901. On 14 January 2005, Preservation of Monuments Board gazetted it as a national monument. Title devised by Library staff.
