Information About

The photograph shows old motorised fire engines parked in front of the fire service workshop of Alexandra Fire Station at Queensway. The workshop was relocated to Serangoon Fire Station. The fire station was officially declared open by Sir John Nicoll, Governor of Singapore, on 25 February 1954. It was demolished in 2002 to make way for a seven-storey building which houses the fire station as well as the headquarters of the first division of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). The new building is connected to the neighbouring Queenstown Neighbourhood Police Centre. Title devised by Library staff.
