“This is the home of my favorite mee siam stall, Delicious, located on Level 2. Tanjong Pagar Plaza Market & Food Centre comprises a market and a food centre. The market used to be a roadside market in the 1950s and 1960s. The food centre was built in 1977 and has since undergone many rounds of renovations and upgrading to what it is today, and is supposedly slated for further upgrading. Though the renovations are disruptive for the hawkers, they take it in their stride and have to find alternative income when the food centre is closed, though sometimes it is really difficult to find short term employment in order to supplement the loss of income during the renovations.”—Contributed by Chong Hui Min via the Singapore Memories website.
