This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Mr. Mangal Chotta Singh, founder of the Ramakrishna Mission Orchestra (later Ramakrishna Sangeetha Sabha) in September 1939. He was founder member of the Singapore Indian Association; founder member and President of the North Indian Hindu Assocication (1927-1928, 1939-1940, 1942-1945); President of the Ramakrishna Sangeetha Sabha, Singapore (1954-1964); and Honorary Secretary of the Arya Kumar Sabha. His father was Mr. Thakur Mangal Singh Gaur, a wealthy trader. Title devised by Library staff.
