Information About

This is a view of the Mandarin Singapore (later known as "Meritus Mandarin" and "Mandarin Orchard") at 333, Orchard Road. The hotel comprises two blocks: the 39-storey main tower block (left) opened in 1971 and the 37-storey South tower block opened in 1980. On top of the main tower is the "M" revolving restaurant. In 2009, the hotel was renovated to convert the ground floor and a few lower floors into a shopping arcade known as "Mandarin Gallery". The lobby is now located on the fifth floor instead of the ground floor before the renovation. The hotel was built by Mr. Lien Ying Chow, Chairman of Overseas Union Bank (1974-1995), and officially declared open by Dr. Goh Keng Swee, Deputy Prime Minister, on 1 August 1973. Title devised by Library staff.
