This is a view of the main entrance to Manmatha Karunesvera Temple or Sri Manmatha Karuneshvarar Temple at 226 Kallang Road. The Hindu temple was established by Kallang Gasworks Hindu workers in 1888. Between 1935 and 1937, the building was reconstructed by Mr. V. Pakirisamy Pillai and his brother Mr. V. Narayanasamy Pillai with the help from an architect, Mr. K. Kandasamy from South India. The first and most important shrine is dedicated to Lord Siva, and the second to his wife Parvathi. The smaller ones at either side of Siva are for Ganessa and Murugan. Title devised by Library staff.
