This is a photograph from E. A. Brown’s collection. It was taken during the opening ceremony of the Singapore Naval Base's floating dock on 14 August 1929. The photograph shows the new floating dock partially submerged so as to allow the entry of a ship needing repair. Heavy-lifting moveable cranes are also seen on the far side of the dock.
