This is a close-up of Mr. Philip Yeo Liat Kok (杨烈国), Chairman of the National Computer Board (predecessor of Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore) from 1981 to 1987. He was a Colombo Plan Scholar and he joined the Administrative Service in June 1970. He was Acting (1979) and later Second Permanent Secretary for Defence (1980 to 1985); Chairman of the Singapore Computer Systems (1981 to 1982); Member (January 1982), Chairman (January 1986 to January 2001) and Co-Chairman (February 2001 to January 2006) of the Economic Development Board; Director (August 1993), Deputy Chairman (November 1993) and later Executive Chairman of the Sembawang Shipyard (January 1994 to 1998); Chairman of the Sembawang Corporation (1994 to 1998), SembCorp Industries (1998 to 1999), Pidemco Land (1999 to 2000) and CapitaLand (November 2000 to April 2004); Member (1980) and Chairman of the Singapore Technologies Holdings (1987 to 1993); Deputy Chairman (1999) and later Chairman of the National Science and Technology Board and later the Agency for Science, Technology and Research or A*STAR (February 2001 to March 2007); Chairman of the Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board or Spring Singapore (April 2007 to date); Member of the UOB Group (May 2000 to date); Senior Science and Technology to the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Special Advisor for Economic Development at the Prime Minister's Office (April 2007 to date). He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (1974), the Public Administration Medal (Gold) (1982), the Meritorius Service Medal (1991), the Order of Nila Utama (First Class) (2006), and the NTUC Distinguished Service (Star) (2008).
