The track is the southernmost segment in the West Coast Line, serving the West Coast states of Peninsular Malaysia. It was originally managed by the Singapore Government Railway. In 1918, the government of the Federated Malay States purchased all the properties and lands of Singapore Railway and was renamed the Federated Malay States Railway. Today, it is known as K.T.M.
