This is a side view of the 22-storey Straits Trading Building (left) and 18-storey Bank of China Building (right) along Battery Road. On the left foreground is a partial view of Hongkong and Shanghai Bank Building. Bank of China Building at 4, Battery Road was built and completed in 1953. A new 36-storey building was completed next to the old block in 2000. Straits Trading Building at 9, Battery Road was built and completed in 1972. It housed Straits Trading Company (founded in 1887). Hongkong Bank Building at 21, Collyer Quay was built in 1925 and demolished in 1979 to make way for the new 21-storey HSBC Building. Title devised by Library staff.
