This is a head-and-shoulders portrait of Professor Ang Kok Peng, People's Action Party Member of Parliament for Crawford (1972-1976) and Buona Vista (1977-1988). He was Ambassador to Japan (1968-1971); Minister of State for Communications (Sep 1972-Apr 1974) and Health (Apr 1974-1976); Adviser to People's Association Youth Movement Regional Youth Council (Central) (1980); Dean of Faculty of Science (1971-1973, 1977-1980) and Head of Department of Chemistry at University of Singapore (1971, 1976-1988); and President of Singapore National Academy of Sciences (1978-1992). In 1971, he was awarded the Public Service Star (BBM). His wife, Mrs. Ang Wai Hoong, was Director of Curriculum Development Institute of Singapore (1987-1992). Title devised by Library staff.
