This is the right profile of Mrs. Tan Ching Yee, Deputy Secretary (Policy) for Education from November 1998 to June 2002. Awarded the Overseas Merit Scholarship in 1983, she joined the Civil Service as a statistician in the Department of Statistics, Ministry of Trade and Industry in 1986. She later moved to the Research and Planning Division (1988-1996). In 1991, she was inducted into the Administrative Service. Subsequently, she became Director of Planning and Director of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education (1997-1998); Deputy Secretary (Infocomm and Media Development) at the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (2002-2004); Chief Executive Officer of Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore or IDA (Jul 2002-Dec 2004); Second Permanent Secretary for Education (Jan 2005-Mac 2007); Permanent Secretary for Education (Apr 2007-to date); and Board Member of the Competition Commission of Singapore (Jan 2008-to date).
